It's been 16 days since I last posted...but who's counting? Since then I feel like a year has gone by. In no particular order - I taught at Idyllwild and had an awesome time. (I have a whole post in my head dedicated to the awesome things going on at the venue where I taught.) Independence Day came and went. Judy and I finished our Plaster Studio Workshop. I turned 34. My nephew came to visit for a month or so (I can hear him outside playing in the rain. Nature - it's a good thing.) Theman and the ponies got hit hard with a fast and furious stomach flu. I thought I'd dodged that bullet but a few days later I had an entire night of hot sweats, delirious conversations and violent erruptions of the vomitous kind which were so intense that I will be visiting my chiropractor first thing Monday morning to have my neck realigned. No joke. The illness was fierce but swift and i'm happy to be feeling like my same ol' "I never get sick" self again.
We had family roll in from Utah today. On Wednesday a cousin and his pregnant wife and toddler daughter will join the herd. And then on Saturday, the rest of the family decends for our every-two-year family reunion here on our land. I can't wait. It's going to be so awesome! I'll likely be pretty quiet here again for a stretch considering....
But. What I'm so excited to share with you today is that Judy and I had such an amazing experience teaching Plaster Studio Workshop. We worked together better than peanut butter and jelly and she is the cross to my 't' and the dot to my 'i". One of the most oft-heard comments we received from students was how well our teaching styles and technique approaches complimented each other. I feel that our collaboration offered more than the sum of our parts and i'm so happy to say that because of that, we've decided to turn the entire class into an e-book.
Lots of folks emailed us sad that they had missed out and so we are thrilled to be offering it as a hard-copy disk with ALL of the content from the online class. This includes over 30 technique videos, extensive instructional written content, a comprehensive student-focused Q&A section as well as links to resources and supplies up the wa-zoo. It's a brute, I tell you. A heavy-hitter as far as ebooks/online classes go. The online version of the class ran for a full four weeks with posts daily (except Sundays) and was FULL of information each and every day. We covered everything from sculpting to page and book making, painting, incorporating mixed media and wax, surface manipulation galore...it rocked. And the student work made us so very proud.
Let me just say this - I love face to face interaction with a student. More than any other method of teaching. But what I love so much about online/ebook offerings is the ability to 1)reach people who cannot make it to a live class and 2)be able to give the information I present in a way that can be referenced forever. This is part of the purpose of teaching, I beleive. To share something that will be lasting.
We're in the process of fine tuning all the content and so we don't have an exact release date yet (as soon as possible...within the next couple of months) but we wanted to let you all know so that you can pre-order your copies. These will be actual disks that will be mailed to you with all the content so you can view them any time. We're working closely with the uber talented Laurie to make sure that it not only looks amazing, but that also the interaction with the content is pleasant, easy to navigate, simple to self-guide yourself through, and super content packed. For those of you who are technologically challenged :), if you can put a disk in a slot and click the play button....and turn pages in a book...you'll be able to enjoy this ebook with ease.
I'm going on and on....to learn more or to order your copy, go here.
Anyway, I hear screaming ponies outside. Is it distress?...hang on....nah...sounds like fun screams. I think they're flipping each other on the hammock...it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt and until then, I'll leave them alone. Cousins need to play hard together.
Happy July to you.
I'm so glad you are felling better Steph! ;) Riki

Hi Stephanie, I just wanted to send you and Judy a big thank-you! I hope more artists will join you in doing there classes on disc. I recently suffered a head injury and can no longer retain information for very long. I have had to watch so many classes pass me by because of it. I am sooo looking forward to yours now and know that I will be able to look at it any time I need to!

I'm so glad that you and Judy are receiving the recognition you deserve. The Plaster Studio is awesome...it changed forever the way I approach my art. I can't stop creating new ideas in my head and am anxious to have the time to execute the designs.
I met you at Artful Journey and proudly own your bird which hangs on my wall with my bird art collection. I will be taking classes with you and Judy at Art Is You and am looking forward to giving you both a hug for what you brought to my world of art. Much continued success with the e-book and book which I purchased before class began. I know that the e-book will inspire me for a long time to come.
